The Anti-Hepatitis A IgG (Anti-HAV IgG) Test is a blood test used to detect IgG antibodies against the Hepatitis A Virus (HAV).
This test helps healthcare professionals determine whether a person has developed immunity to Hepatitis A through a previous infection or vaccination. Hepatitis A is a viral infection that primarily affects the liver and is commonly transmitted through contaminated food or water.
Detects IgG antibodies against the Hepatitis A Virus (HAV).
Helps determine immunity to Hepatitis A following previous infection or vaccination.
Supports the assessment of past exposure to Hepatitis A.
May help evaluate immune status in individuals at increased risk of Hepatitis A exposure.
Assists healthcare professionals in assessing the need for Hepatitis A vaccination when clinically appropriate.
Sample Type: Clotted Blood or Serum
Required Quantity: 2–3 ml
Department: Serology / Immunology (subject to laboratory confirmation).
Fasting is generally not required for the Anti-Hepatitis A IgG Test.
Inform your healthcare provider if you have previously received the Hepatitis A vaccine.
Inform your doctor about any history of Hepatitis A infection or liver disease.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
The Anti-Hepatitis A IgG Test detects antibodies associated with immunity to Hepatitis A but is not used to diagnose an active or recent Hepatitis A infection.
A positive or reactive Anti-HAV IgG result generally indicates immunity due to previous Hepatitis A infection or vaccination.
A negative or non-reactive result indicates that Hepatitis A IgG antibodies were not detected and may suggest that the individual is not immune to Hepatitis A.
For suspected recent or acute Hepatitis A infection, the Anti-HAV IgM Test is generally used.
Results should be interpreted by a healthcare professional alongside vaccination history, symptoms, medical history, and other relevant investigations.
Reporting Time: To be confirmed by the laboratory.
Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
