The Anti-Reticulin Antibody (ARA) Test is a blood test used to detect autoantibodies directed against reticulin-associated structures found in connective tissues of the body.
This test has historically been used to help healthcare professionals investigate Celiac Disease, an autoimmune condition in which consuming gluten triggers an immune reaction that can damage the lining of the small intestine.
Although Anti-Reticulin Antibody testing may provide additional information in selected cases, it has largely been replaced by more accurate celiac disease antibody tests.
Detects anti-reticulin antibodies in the blood.
May support the investigation of suspected Celiac Disease.
Helps identify certain autoimmune antibody responses associated with gluten-related disorders.
Provides additional diagnostic information alongside other celiac disease investigations.
May assist in evaluating patients with symptoms such as chronic diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, bloating, and unexplained weight loss.
Helps healthcare professionals determine whether further investigations are required.
