The TB ELISA IgG Test is a blood test designed to detect IgG antibodies associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis (TB).
This test identifies an antibody response that may indicate previous exposure to TB bacteria. However, antibody-based testing has limitations and cannot independently confirm active or latent tuberculosis.
Detects IgG antibodies associated with tuberculosis.
Helps assess possible previous exposure to TB infection.
Supports preliminary investigation of suspected TB exposure.
May provide additional information alongside other clinical investigations.
Helps guide further diagnostic evaluation when clinically indicated.
Sample Type: Clotted Blood or Serum
Required Quantity: 3–5 cc
Department: Serology / Immunology
Fasting is generally not required unless instructed by your doctor or laboratory.
Inform your healthcare provider about any previous TB diagnosis or treatment.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
A positive TB ELISA IgG result does not confirm active tuberculosis. Antibodies may remain detectable after previous exposure or infection. A negative result also does not exclude TB. Your doctor may recommend further investigations such as GeneXpert, sputum testing, TB culture, or chest imaging based on clinical findings.
Reporting Time: To be confirmed by the laboratory.
Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
