The TB ICT (Immunochromatographic Test) is a blood-based rapid screening test designed to detect antibodies associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis (TB).
This test may be used as an initial screening investigation when tuberculosis is suspected. However, antibody-based TB tests have limited diagnostic accuracy and cannot reliably confirm or exclude active tuberculosis.
Screens for antibodies associated with tuberculosis.
May support preliminary investigation of suspected TB exposure.
Provides antibody-based screening results.
May be used as part of an initial clinical assessment.
Requires further investigation when tuberculosis is suspected.
Sample Type: Clotted Blood or Serum
Required Quantity: 2–3 ml
Department: Serology / Immunology
Fasting is generally not required unless instructed by your doctor or laboratory.
Inform your healthcare provider about previous TB diagnosis or treatment.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
TB ICT is an antibody-based screening test and is not recommended as a standalone method for diagnosing active tuberculosis. A positive result does not confirm active TB, and a negative result does not exclude infection. Your doctor may recommend sputum testing, molecular tests such as GeneXpert, or other investigations depending on symptoms and clinical findings.
Reporting Time: To be confirmed by the laboratory.
Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
