The Troponin-I Test is a blood test that measures the level of cardiac Troponin I, a protein found in heart muscle cells. When heart muscle cells become damaged, Troponin I is released into the bloodstream.
This test is commonly used to help investigate suspected heart muscle injury, particularly during the assessment of a heart attack (myocardial infarction).
Measures cardiac Troponin I levels in the blood.
Helps investigate suspected heart muscle damage.
Supports the evaluation of a possible heart attack.
Helps assess patients experiencing chest pain or other cardiac symptoms.
May be used to monitor changes in cardiac injury markers over time.
Sample Type: Clotted Blood or Serum
Required Quantity: 2–3 ml
Department: Clinical Chemistry / Cardiac Markers
Fasting is generally not required.
No special preparation is usually necessary.
Inform your healthcare provider about existing medical conditions and medications.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
Elevated Troponin-I levels may indicate heart muscle injury, but they do not always mean a heart attack. Results should be interpreted alongside symptoms, ECG findings, medical history, and serial troponin measurements when clinically indicated.
Important: If you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, or symptoms of a possible heart attack, seek emergency medical care immediately rather than waiting for a test booking.
Reporting Time: To be confirmed by the laboratory.
**Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
