The TSH Receptor Antibody (TRAb) Test is a blood test that detects antibodies targeting thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) receptors. These antibodies can interfere with normal thyroid function and may cause excessive thyroid hormone production.
This test is commonly used to investigate Graves' Disease, an autoimmune condition that causes an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).
Detects antibodies against TSH receptors.
Supports the diagnosis of Graves' Disease.
Helps investigate autoimmune-related hyperthyroidism.
May assist in evaluating the cause of abnormal thyroid hormone levels.
Can help monitor Graves' Disease during treatment.
May be recommended during pregnancy in selected patients with current or previous Graves' Disease.
Sample Type: Serum
Required Quantity: 2–3 cc
Department: Immunology / Hormone Testing
Fasting is generally not required unless instructed by your doctor or laboratory.
Inform your healthcare provider about thyroid medications and other medicines you are taking.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
Elevated TSH receptor antibody levels may support the diagnosis of Graves' Disease, but results should be interpreted alongside thyroid function tests (TSH, T3, and T4), symptoms, and medical history. This test alone does not establish a complete diagnosis.
Reporting Time: To be confirmed by the laboratory.
Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
