The TTG IgA Test is a blood test that detects IgA antibodies against tissue transglutaminase (tTG), an enzyme involved in normal tissue functions.
This test is commonly used as an initial screening investigation for Celiac Disease, an autoimmune condition in which gluten triggers an immune response that damages the lining of the small intestine.
Detects IgA antibodies against tissue transglutaminase.
Helps screen for Celiac Disease.
Supports the investigation of gluten-related autoimmune reactions.
Helps evaluate patients with digestive symptoms or unexplained nutritional deficiencies.
Supports further assessment alongside other celiac disease investigations.
Sample Type: Serum
Required Quantity: 2–3 cc
Department: Immunology / Serology
Continue consuming gluten before testing unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Avoid starting a gluten-free diet before testing, as it may affect the accuracy of results.
Fasting is generally not required unless instructed by your doctor or laboratory.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
A positive TTG IgA result may strongly support the possibility of Celiac Disease but does not independently confirm the diagnosis. Total IgA levels may also be checked to identify IgA deficiency, which can affect the reliability of this test. Further evaluation may be recommended by your doctor.
Reporting Time: To be confirmed by the laboratory.
Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
