Urine for Microalbumin is a laboratory test used to detect small amounts of albumin (a type of protein) in urine. It helps identify early signs of kidney damage, particularly in individuals with diabetes or high blood pressure.
Measures small amounts of albumin in urine.
Helps detect early signs of kidney damage.
Supports the assessment of kidney health.
Helps monitor kidney complications associated with diabetes and hypertension.
Sample Type: Urine
Required Volume: 20–25 ml
No fasting is generally required.
A first-morning urine sample is often preferred.
Collect a clean-catch midstream urine sample in a clean container.
Avoid strenuous exercise before collection, as it may temporarily affect albumin levels.
Follow the laboratory's sample collection instructions.
Diabetes mellitus
High blood pressure (hypertension)
Suspected early kidney damage
Chronic kidney disease monitoring
Routine kidney health assessment
Urinary albumin levels may temporarily increase due to fever, urinary tract infection, strenuous exercise, or other conditions.
An abnormal result may require repeat testing or a urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR).
A single abnormal result does not confirm chronic kidney disease.
Results should be interpreted alongside medical history and other kidney function tests.
To be confirmed by the laboratory.
Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
