The Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV) IgG Test is a blood test used to detect IgG antibodies against the Varicella Zoster Virus. This virus causes chickenpox (varicella) and can reactivate later in life as shingles (herpes zoster).
This test helps healthcare professionals assess previous exposure to VZV or an immune response following vaccination. It may also be used to evaluate immunity against the virus.
Detection of IgG antibodies against Varicella Zoster Virus.
Evidence of previous VZV infection.
Assessment of immunity against chickenpox.
Antibody response following VZV vaccination.
Sample Type: Serum.

Previous Exposure to Varicella Zoster Virus.
A positive VZV IgG result generally indicates previous exposure or vaccination-related immunity.
A positive result does not confirm an active VZV infection.
A negative result may indicate a lack of detectable immunity but should be interpreted alongside vaccination history and clinical findings.
Results should be interpreted by a qualified healthcare professional.
To be confirmed by the laboratory.
