The ANCA-P Test is a blood test used to detect perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (p-ANCA). These antibodies are associated with certain autoimmune conditions that cause inflammation of blood vessels and other tissues.
This test helps healthcare professionals investigate suspected autoimmune disorders, particularly certain forms of vasculitis and inflammatory conditions.
Detects perinuclear ANCA (p-ANCA) antibodies.
Supports the investigation of autoimmune-related inflammation.
Helps evaluate suspected microscopic polyangiitis.
May assist in investigating certain kidney and blood vessel conditions.
Supports the assessment of inflammatory bowel diseases in selected clinical cases.
Sample Type: Clotted Blood or Serum
Required Quantity: 2–3 ml
Department: Immunology / Serology
Fasting is generally not required unless instructed by your doctor or laboratory.
Inform your healthcare provider about medications and existing medical conditions.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
A positive p-ANCA result does not independently confirm vasculitis or another autoimmune disease. p-ANCA may be associated with different conditions, and results should be interpreted alongside clinical findings and other investigations. Additional testing, such as MPO-ANCA and PR3-ANCA, may be recommended.
Reporting Time: To be confirmed by the laboratory.
Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
Laboratory Note: Confirm whether this test reports p-ANCA by immunofluorescence or includes MPO antibody testing, as these are related but different laboratory investigations.
