The Anti-Endomysial IgG (EMA-IgG) Test is a blood test used to detect IgG antibodies directed against endomysium, a connective tissue component found in muscles.
This test may help healthcare professionals investigate Celiac Disease, particularly in selected patients with IgA deficiency or when IgA-based antibody testing may not provide reliable results.
Detects IgG antibodies against endomysium.
Supports the investigation of suspected Celiac Disease.
May assist in patients with IgA deficiency.
Helps evaluate possible gluten-related autoimmune reactions.
Supports further assessment alongside other celiac disease investigations.
Sample Type: Serum

Continue consuming gluten before testing unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Avoid starting a gluten-free diet before testing, as it may affect test results.
Fasting is generally not required unless instructed by your doctor or laboratory.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
EMA-IgG testing is generally less commonly used than EMA-IgA and may be considered in selected cases, particularly when IgA deficiency is present. Results should be interpreted alongside symptoms, medical history, total IgA levels, and other celiac disease investigations.
