The TB ELISA IgM Test is a blood test designed to detect IgM antibodies associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis (TB).
This test may help investigate an immune response to TB infection. However, antibody-based testing has limitations and should not be used alone to diagnose active tuberculosis.
Detects IgM antibodies associated with tuberculosis.
Helps investigate possible immune responses to TB infection.
Supports preliminary assessment alongside clinical findings.
May be used as part of laboratory investigations when TB is suspected.
Helps guide further diagnostic evaluation when clinically indicated.
Sample Type: Clotted Blood or Serum
Required Quantity: 3–5 cc
Department: Serology / Immunology
Fasting is generally not required unless instructed by your doctor or laboratory.
Inform your healthcare provider about any previous TB diagnosis or treatment.
Follow any specific sample collection instructions provided by the laboratory.
A positive TB ELISA IgM result does not confirm active tuberculosis, and a negative result does not exclude TB infection. Antibody tests have limited reliability for diagnosing TB. Your doctor may recommend appropriate investigations such as GeneXpert, sputum testing, culture, or chest imaging based on clinical findings.
Reporting Time: To be confirmed by the laboratory.
Please confirm test availability and sample collection requirements with the laboratory before booking.
